Once you get past the ‘Drama’ and ‘Comedy’ categories the systemic changes in the landscape of TV broadcasting become readily apparent. At one point, the ‘TV Movie’ category was extremely competitive. Today, it’s of limited relevance. Ditto such quaint anachronisms as ‘Variety Shows’. ‘Limited Series’ are still very much a part of the post digital revolution broadcast industry but there’s one problem–no one can really figure out where to put the line between a ‘limited series’ and a full on drama or comedy series. Such was the case this year with several shows that had previously been in the ‘Limited Series’ category but have now taken up residence in the ‘Drama’ and ‘Comedy’ categories.
