There’s a lot of the ‘usual suspects’ to be found in the nomination lists for the comedy categories at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards. Schitt’s Creek–which had its series finale last year–is among the favorites for every category and should take home at least four wins. The funniest show on television–What We Do In The Shadows–probably didn’t get the respect it deserves in the comedy nominations. It did get three writing nominations along with a nomination in the newly expanded ‘Outstanding Comedy’ category but the extremely talented actors in the show got nothing. In particular, Harvey Guillén deserved one for his portrayal of human familiar Guillermo De La Cruz. This is the sort of role that could be very forgettable but Guillén gives Guillermo an insane amount of depth and complexity.
