We’re not even a month removed from the Vegas Golden Knights winning their first Stanley Cup Championship and already NHL betting enthusiasts have turned their attention to next season. The NHL will begin the 2023-2024 regular season on October 10 but sportsbooks are already hanging numbers for the 2024 Stanley Cup championship. In this article, we’ll take a look at the Stanley Cup futures odds at BetOnline.ag. In subsequent articles we’ll look at other sportsbooks in North America, Nevada and offshore. We might even serve up some value plays along the way.
Interestingly, the 2022 Stanley Cup champions are favored to regain their title. BetOnline.ag has posted their futures prices to win the 2024 Stanley Cup and have installed the Colorado Avalanche as a +800 favorite. They were atop the 2023 Stanley Cup futures when they opened at +400. Colorado is far from a prohibitive favorite they’ll likely play the entire season without team captain Gabriel Landeskog. Landeskog is currently projected to miss all year after a cartilage transplant in May. Right behind Colorado there’s three teams priced at +900: the Carolina Hurricanes, Edmonton Oilers and New Jersey Devils. The reigning Stanley Cup champions are not being afforded much respect–Vegas is a +1000 choice to repeat.
At the other end of the spectrum, there are four teams priced at a whopping +15000: San Jose Sharks, Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens and Chicago Blackhawks. Also near the bottom of the betting board are the Arizona Coyotes and Anaheim Ducks at +12500 and the Columbus Blue Jackets at +1000. There’s a logjam of four teams just ahead of the hapless bottom feeders listed above as the Winnipeg Jets, St. Louis Blues, Nashville Predators and Detroit Red Wings are all installed at +6600. Might be worth taking a shot on Nashville at this price–a lot of changes in Music City and the Predators’ faithful are as excited as I’ve seen them since their run to the Stanley Cup Finals.
