There’s a new sports betting app launching in New Jersey and Pennsylvania or, more appropriately, a new app from a familiar brand under a new name. Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment–parent company of Parx Casino and Parx Racing–has announced the launch of a new sportsbook and casino platform called ‘BetParx’. The app is now live in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and promises to deliver a “simpler, faster, and easier casino and sportsbook right in your pocket.” A launch in Ohio is forthcoming.
Parx announced a partnership with Kambi late last year for their retail sportsbook and online betting interface at https://nj.betparx.com/. For the new app, they worked with Playtech. Playtech–among the biggest gaming technology providers in the world–does it all and then some when it comes to betting apps so I’m assuming that the new app uses their platform for sports betting as well as the casino games. A press release from Playtech announced the drop which brings the company’s technology to two of the biggest US gaming markets:
Playtech, the world’s leading gambling technology company, today announced it has partnered with betPARX to relaunch its iGaming and sports betting apps in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The betPARX app in New Jersey and Pennsylvania are now powered by Playtech’s IMS platform and Player Account Management (PAM) and feature Playtech’s proprietary iGaming, putting its IMS technology into use for the first time in the two states.
The new apps, powered by Playtech’s state-of-the-art technology, will allow consumers to access both sports and iGaming content, transforming the online gaming experience for consumers. Parx Casino, the largest casino in Pennsylvania, first announced the partnership between betPARX and Playtech in February 2021, making it the first operator in the U.S. market to launch Playtech’s IMS iGaming platform. Playtech partnered with betPARX and Gun Lake Casino to launch Play Gun Lake, a new iGaming app in Michigan.
Mor Weizer, Playtech CEO, had these comments about the launch:
”We are thrilled to continue to grow Playtech’s iGaming and sports betting partnership with betPARX in other U.S. markets. Playtech’s industry-leading software and expertise provide a high-quality customer experience, and this is exactly what the highly sophisticated consumer market in the U.S. requires. We look forward to further expanding our footprint in the U.S. and working with betPARX to deliver world-class gambling and sports betting entertainment across multiple states and products.”
Matthew Cullen, Senior Vice President of iGaming and Sports for betPARX, is excited about the new technology partnership:
“We are incredibly proud to be launching betPARX® in conjunction with an industry leading technology provider in Playtech. We’ve made the sign up and deposit and cash-out processes as simple and smooth as anything in the industry. Plus, we’ve created a product that ensures a great experience to any user, casino or sports. We invite everyone to download and play betPARX® and remember that Today Just Might Be Your Day!”
Playtech is now licensed in three US states (Michigan, Pennsylvania and New Jersey) and licensing in Ohio is in the works. It’ll be interesting to see if the partnership seeks to launch in markets that don’t require that tethering nonsense such as Ontario.
