- The SuperBook mobile sports betting app is now live in Iowa.
- This is the company’s sixth state including the flagship location at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.
- The SuperBook is considered one of the most influential sportsbooks in Nevada.
It’s been a ‘good news/bad news’ week for Iowa sports betting. The bad news was the curious announcement by Kindred Group plc that they were pulling out of Iowa with their Unibet brand. The good news came from SuperBook Sports–they announced that they were now live with mobile sports betting in Iowa.
It was just over two years ago that SuperBook launched their first presence outside of Nevada with mobile betting in Colorado. They had hoped to launch by the end of September but with the COVID pandemic raging they did a good job not missing it by much. Things got off to a dubious start in the Centennial State–when they were added to the list of Colorado licensed sportsbook operators a typo in the URL sent visitors to ‘co.subperbook.com’. They also launched their first retail location outside of Nevada in June 2021 at the Lodge Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado.
Their fortunes have improved dramatically since then. The operation in Colorado is still growing strong and including their ‘flagship’ location at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino they’re operating in six jurisdictions. In addition to Iowa, Colorado and Nevada they’re live in New Jersey, Arizona and Tennessee. The press release announcing the Iowa launch cryptically informs us that announcements on additional states are ‘just around the corner’. I’m guessing they’ll include Ohio, Maryland and Ontario.
SuperBook Chief Executive Officer, Mark Lipparelli is obviously excited to be in another high quality sports betting market with the launch in Iowa:
“We’re excited to bring the SuperBook brand and our decades of experience to the state of Iowa. From the Cyclones and Hawkeyes to the Field of Dreams, Iowa has one of the best sports traditions in the country. Many sports fans from Iowa have undoubtedly visited our iconic Las Vegas sportsbook, and now they can access those same great betting options from home.”
The press release rightfully touted SuperBook oddsmakers Jay Kornegay and John Murray as a couple of the best in the business. Kornegay–who holds the title of ‘Vice President of Race & Sports Book Operations’ even got to drop a quote:
“I am excited to launch our sports betting in Iowa. From my time in this business, I’ve known sports fans in Iowa to be among the most loyal and knowledgeable. We’re off and running and we welcome new sign-ups to compare us against the others. We focus on building the best odds anywhere we operate, and we offer several generous odds boosts and other promotional bets.”
If you’re in Iowa, you can download the SuperBook Sports app from the Apple App story or the Google Play Store. You can also access their web interface at ia.SuperBook.com.
