Yesterday, we looked at the Eastern Conference futures odds where the Carolina Hurricanes (+500) and New Jersey Devils (+525) are the top choices. They are followed by the Toronto Maple Leafs (+700), New York Rangers (+750), Boston Bruins (+800) and Florida Panthers (+900). At the other extreme, there are two teams priced at +8000–the Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens. Only one other team is priced at odds longer than +3300 and that’s the Columbus Blue Jackets at +6600. The Detroit Red Wings (+3300), Washington Capitals (+3300) and New York Islanders (+2500) are other longshots.
Today, we’ll head out west and take a look at the current futures odds in the Western Conference. We’ve also got an updated rundown of the odds to win the 2023-2024 Stanley Cup:
2023-2024 NHL WESTERN CONFERENCE CUP CHAMPION
Colorado Avalanche +350 Edmonton Oilers +400 Vegas Golden Knights +575 Dallas Stars +650 Los Angeles Kings +900 Minnesota Wild +1100 Calgary Flames +1200 Seattle Kraken +1400 Vancouver Canucks +2500 Nashville Predators +2800 Winnipeg Jets +3300 St. Louis Blues +3500 Arizona Coyotes +6600 Chicago Blackhawks +8000 San Jose Sharks +8000 Anaheim Ducks +10000
Colorado looks a bit overrated in terms of line value given their injury issues. If you’re superstitious and believe in the EA Sports NHL video game cover curse note that the 2024 cover will feature the Avs’ Cale Makar. The Seattle Kraken were one game away from the Western Conference Finals this year and IMO they’ve got a better chance of a deep playoff run than either Minnesota or Calgary. I’ve got some excellent ‘sources’ in Nashville and they concur that there probably won’t be much middle ground with the Preds–either they’ll be a massive surprise or they’ll be a train wreck.
