The Texans travel to Kansas City for a big Week 16 matchup on Saturday and Houston is listed as a 2.5-point favorite. Houston comes in after a win against Miami that clinched the AFC South while the Chiefs downed the Browns to pull two games ahead of the Bills for the No. 1 seed in the conference.

Obviously the big news going into this game is the status of Patrick Mahomes. The reports say the quarterback is dealing with a high ankle sprain and is considered week-to-week. But with this being a Saturday game and then the Chiefs having to play on Christmas Day, there’s a really good chance Mahomes sits this game, as the odds indicate. That means Carson Wentz will get his first start of the season.

Even with a healthy Patrick Mahomes the Chiefs have had three straight games where the total hasn’t hit 40 points. Assuming he isn’t playing, betting the under makes total sense here. KC has allowed the fifth fewest points and Houston has gone under 10 times this season, the most of any team.

Without Mahomes, the Chiefs would rely heavily on the running game and Isiah Pacheco is healthy again and should get an abundance of carries. He’s rushed for 131 yards on 34 carries in three games while catching four of his six targets for 26 yards. Pacheco should be the workhouse on offense for the Chiefs on Saturday.
Joe Mixon: Anytime TD Scorer (-138)
After scoring in six straight games, Joe Mixon has found the end zone just once in the last three. But in a game that will likely rely on the ground game, you’d have to assume Mixon gets every opportunity for a touchdown when the Texans are inside the 10. Points will be a premium in this one, but Mixon should find pay dirt.
