We’ve already looked at some 2020 NFL Draft props including a selection of ‘first drafted’ props and the over/under ‘position props’. In this writeup we’ll look at another popular type of NFL draft prop–the ‘Conference Prop’. These are similar to the ‘position props’ but instead of determining how many players at a given position will be drafted in the first round you’re looking at how many players from an individual conference. As with the previous installments we’ll be using odds from BetOnline.ag though you should always shop around to find the best price.
TOTAL SEC PLAYERS DRAFTED IN THE FIRST ROUND
OVER 15.5 SEC PLAYERS DRAFTED +160 UNDER 15.5 SEC PLAYERS DRAFTED -230
This would fall into the category of a prop you should definitely ‘shop around’ as I’m seeing a ton of variance from one book to another on the Don Best screen. By my count, we’re looking at 14 SEC players drafted in the first round. Georgia OL Isaiah Wilson has a chance to sneak up into the first round but that still puts us ‘Under’ were that to happen. The tricky thing about this prop is if multiple teams end up drafting ‘best athlete available’ instead of picking to need. It’s not uncommon for the ‘best athlete available’ at any point in the NFL draft to be from a SEC school.
BET UNDER 15.5 SEC PLAYERS DRAFTED -230
TOTAL PAC-12 PLAYERS DRAFTED IN THE FIRST ROUND
OVER 2.5 PAC-12 PLAYERS DRAFTED +125 UNDER 2.5 PAC-12 PLAYERS DRAFTED -165
By my count it will be three Pac-12 players drafted in the first round beginning with Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert. Utah cornerback Jaylon Johnson should also be a lock to go in the first round. Not surprisingly, the third pick is more tenuous but I expect to see Arizona State WR Brandon Aiyuk also go near the tail end of the first round. Teams always need good offensive linemen and USC’s Austin Jackson is definitely that. Right now, I’ve got him projected to go early 2nd round but there’s a chance he could creep up to the first.
BET OVER 2.5 PAC-12 PLAYERS DRAFTED +125
TOTAL BIG 10 PLAYERS DRAFTED IN THE FIRST ROUND
OVER 5.5 BIG 10 PLAYERS DRAFTED -175 UNDER 5.5 BIG 10 PLAYERS DRAFTED +135
My projection shows 6 Big 10 players going in the first round but with three on my list showing in the last six picks of the first round it’s tough to lay the juice with the ‘Over’. Instead, we’ll go ‘Under’ and look for one of the ‘final three’ Big 10 first round picks to slip into the second round.
BET UNDER 5.5 BIG 10 PLAYERS DRAFTED +125
TOTAL BIG 12 PLAYERS DRAFTED IN THE FIRST ROUND
OVER 3.5 BIG 12 PLAYERS DRAFTED -110 UNDER 3.5 BIG 12 PLAYERS DRAFTED -130
Based on my projections and mock drafts this looks like an easy win on the ‘Under’. You could see *no* Big 12 players drafted in the first round. Even if Baylor WR Denzel Mims and TCU DL Ross Blacklock sneak up to the first round you’ve got room to spare.
