Sports betting in Ohio will launch on January 1, 2023 and companies are already starting to promote their brand in advance of that date. While many are continuing the ‘mutually assured destruction’ strategy of expensive marketing and untenable bonus schemes, you’ve got to hand it to betJACK. The brand bills itself as ‘Ohio’s Sportsbook’ due to the company’s roots in the Buckeye State and are taking a page from the past in their pre-launch promotional strategy. It’s not only a ‘tried and true’ way to promote a brand it affords the company with a financially intelligent way to do so.
Back in the halcyon days of FM radio, stations would use concert tickets as promotional tools. For example, the local album rock station would give away tickets to see REO Speedwagon, Ted Nugent or whatever other major bands were coming to the local sports arena. betJACK is reviving this tried and true promotional strategy for players that place a bet in the company’s free to play sportsbook app. Unfortunately, there’s not an awesome Rainbow/UFO double bill in town so they’re giving away the next best thing–tickets to major Ohio sporting events.
Here’s a list of the sporting events up for grabs:

Here’s Adam Suliman, SVP of Sports & Digital Gaming for JACK Entertainment, talking about the promotion:
“These giveaways provide Ohio sports fans with another reason to be excited about sports betting. They can practice using Ohio’s sports betting app and maybe score some great tickets to see their favorite local teams.”
Here’s the 411 on the betJACK app:
The Ohio-born betJACK app is available now as a training camp for Ohio fans who want to practice their skills with a free experience before real betting becomes available next year.
Each day they log in, Ohioans receive 100 tokens to make simulated bets on any team and sport. The tokens can’t buy beer at the bar or tickets on the 50-yard line, but they do allow players to win virtual trophies, seats on the leaderboard, and plenty of bragging rights.
The betJACK sports wagering platform is available for download — in both desktop and mobile versions — on the Apple App Store and Google Play by searching betJACK.
Credit to betJACK for promoting their brand without resorting to the financially unsustainable tactics so common in the industry. This type of restraint benefits the entire US sports betting ecosystem.
