- BetMGM has announced the first ever BetMGM Poker Championship scheduled for June 23-26 at the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
- The BetMGM Poker Championship at ARIA is a $3,500 buy-in no limit hold ’em tournament carrying a $1 million guarantee.
- The event is scheduled during the 2022 ARIA Poker Classic.
The World Series of Poker main event is the highest profile competition in the world and the finale of six weeks with 85 individual tournaments. Caesars Entertainment now owns the WSOP brand and the competition is held at MGM properties–this summer at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas. Rather than give Caesars six weeks as the focal point of the poker world, other Las Vegas properties offer their own events. MGM Resorts’s entry is the ARIA Poker Classic which runs from June 1 through July 17 with 46 different competitions. The big prize is Event #23 the No Limit Hold’em Championship with a $3,500 buy in and a top prize of $1 million USD. The event will be held at the ARIA Resort & Casino on the beautiful Las Vegas Strip.
This year, the BetMGM brand gets in on the act. The first ever BetMGM Poker Championship will be held June 23-26 at the ARIA–it’s actually the aforementioned ‘Event 23’ but with the BetMGM branding. BetMGM is the company’s iGaming and sports betting division in partnership with Entain PLC. In addition, they’ve scheduled a $600 buy-in BetMGM Poker Mystery Bounty event. One component of the BetMGM Poker Championship–they’ll be offering entries to at least 15 players from each US live poker market. Here’s the 411 from the MGM Resorts press release:
The BetMGM Poker Championship at ARIA is a $3,500 buy-in no limit hold ’em tournament carrying a $1 million guarantee. On Saturday, June 25, a $600 buy-in BetMGM Poker Mystery Bounty will mark the first time ARIA has run this modern take on a live poker knockout tournament.
Through a rolling schedule of daily qualifiers and weekly satellites, BetMGM Poker will award prize packages to at least 15 players from each U.S. live poker market. The packages include a buy-in for the BetMGM Poker Championship, travel expenses, and a five-night stay at ARIA.
Luke Staudenmaier, Director of Poker, BetMGM, is excited to have his company’s brand on a big money poker competition:
“The first-ever BetMGM Poker Championship descends on Las Vegas during one of the most exciting times of the poker season. ARIA is a legendary poker brand and we’re thrilled that the Championship has become an integral part of this year’s Poker Classic. Through our relationship with MGM Resorts and its world-class U.S. properties, we’ll continue to leverage event programming and connect with players both online and in their favorite poker rooms.”
Here’s the schedule for the ARIA Poker Classic–this came out before BetMGM’s announcement which is why their branding isn’t displayed here:

Boyd Gaming is also getting into the act with The 2022 Orleans Summer Open running from May 31 through July 10 at The Orleans Hotel & Casino:
The South Point Hotel & Casino will run the Summer Poker Round Up from May 30 through July 20. Wouldn’t surprise me to see some of the other properties get involved with their own events.
