BetMGM has recently been announced as the new title sponsor for the upcoming Premier League Darts tournament in the UK. This marks the beginning of a fresh sponsorship deal with the Professional Darts Corporation. The BetMGM Premier League, scheduled from February to May, will see eight players vying for a total prize pool of £1 million across 17 eventful nights.
The format of the league includes 16 league nights, each hosting a mini-tournament. In these, the eight players compete until one emerges victorious, with the top four players in the final league standings advancing to the season-ending Play-Offs.
Matt Porter, the Chief Executive of the PDC, expressed his excitement about the new partnership:
“The Premier League will reach a huge live audience and a massive global television audience across four months, and we’re delighted to welcome BetMGM as our new title sponsor. This year marks the 20th staging of the Premier League and it is already the most eagerly-awaited, with the standard of entertainment across PDC events in the past 12 months having continued to rise. As we enter the third year of the eight-player, nightly knockout format we’re excited about working alongside BetMGM to promote such a wide-reaching event.”
BetMGM has established a strong presence in the UK, already holding sponsorships with football clubs like Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Newcastle United, and with broadcaster talkSPORT.
Sam Behar, the UK Director of BetMGM, shared his enthusiasm for this new partnership:
“We are thrilled to be partnering with such an exciting and entertaining event as Premier League Darts and look forward to an action-packed 2024 for both BetMGM and the PDC.”
The 2024 BetMGM Premier League Darts will feature high-profile players including the newly crowned World Champion Luke Humphries, teenage prodigy Luke Littler, and the reigning champion Michael van Gerwen among the eight contenders.
The Premier League Darts event has been previously sponsored by notable names such as Unibet, Betway, and 888.
