It’s a matchup between two division leaders as both the Seahawks and Bills try to put some distance between themselves and the rest of their own respective rivals. Seattle snapped a 3-game losing streak in Atlanta and are now 3-point underdogs at home against Buffalo.
Buffalo Bills
After struggling in the first half against the Titans, the Bills scored 34 unanswered points on their way to a 34-10 win. Josh Allen is back in the MVP conversation as he’s thrown for 1,483 yards, 12 touchdowns while rushing for 179 yards and 3 touchdowns. The passing game has found new life as newly-acquired Amari Cooper caught four passes for 66 yards in his Bills debut against the Titans while rookie Keon Coleman broke out with four catches for 125 yards. Buffalo is fifth in the league for points scored with just over 28 per game. The defense, ranked #8 allowing 19.4 PPG and has put up 19 sacks to go with 7 interceptions. They’ll have to find a way to slow down the #1 passing team in the NFL on Sunday.
Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks went into Atlanta and slowed down one of the better offenses in the NFL, defeating the Falcons 34-14, snapping a 3-game losing skid. Geno Smith leads the NFL in passing with 1,985 yards, 8 touchdowns and 6 picks. Seattle has 6 players who have at least 144 receiving yards, and three players (Metcalf, Lockett, Smith-Njigba) all with at least 300 receiving yards. But Smith may be without D.K. Metcalf who deals with an injury. Kenneth Walker, who’s had injury issues, bounced back with 69 yards on 14 carries and a score and should get a bulk of the work again. Defensively, the Hawks have 20 sacks and 4 interceptions and Derrick Hall had a fumble return for a touchdown last week. Playing at home is always an advantage but the Seahawks have to be mistake free against Allen and company who will make them pay. Buffalo leads the league in takeaway differential with +10.
Prediction:
The Bills’ addition of Amari Cooper has changed the offense and with another week under his belt, Cooper could be in store for a big performance. The loss of Metcalf will hurt Seattle and the way the Bills are playing, they’ll continue to roll and should cover the spread.
THE PICK: Buffalo -3
Player Prop Best Bets
Noah Fant: OVER Receiving Yards
With D.K. Metcalf most likely out, Noah Fant could play a bigger factor Sunday. The tight end has back-to-back 60+ yard games and is becoming Smith’s safety net picking up big chunks on receptions.
Josh Allen: UNDER Rushing Yards
In the past, Allen has had big games on the ground but this season, the Bills have relied more on James Cook and Ray Davis limited Allen’s runs. He’s only had three games running for over this total, and in the last two, the quarterback has 18 yards and just one yard rushing.
