- Caesars Entertainment has launched mobile sports betting in Louisiana through their Caesars Sportsbook subsidiary.
- The company launched retail betting in the ‘Pelican State’ in October 2021.
- Retail betting is currently available at Harrah’s New Orleans and Horseshoe Bossier City Hotel & Casino.
- Sports betting should be available at the remaining three Caesars properties in Louisiana in early 2022.
Mobile sports betting went live in Louisiana on Friday, January 28 and there’s already quite a few sportsbooks that have launched their apps. At this point, if a sportsbook can’t get all of the necessary regulatory approvals for their apps by the end of this week they’re unlikely to be ready for the Super Bowl on February 13 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. For that reason, you’ll probably see a mad rush by sportsbooks to get up and running in Louisiana in the next few days but after that it’ll likely calm down for at least a week or two. You can expect a second wave of launches in time for the NCAA basketball tournament aka ‘March Madness’.
Already up and running with mobile betting in Louisiana are Penn National Gaming’s Barstool Sportsbook and Rush Street Interactive’s BetRivers Sportsbook brand. They’ve now been joined by one of the industry leaders that has made it clear that they’re making Louisiana a priority. Caesars Sportsbook launched retail betting at Harrah’s New Orleans and Horseshoe Bossier City Hotel & Casino in late October 2021 and they’re now up and running with their mobile app. Caesars Entertainment has been stressing their long running presence in Louisiana for the past year to the point that they’re now the naming sponsor for the venue formerly known as the Louisiana Superdome. They emphasized their Louisiana legacy when they launched retail betting and they’re doing the same thing with their mobile presence:
Following the launch of in-person sports betting at its iconic properties Harrah’s New Orleans and Horseshoe Bossier City in October 2021, Caesars Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: CZR) (“Caesars”) today announced its best-in-class Caesars Sportsbook app is now accepting its first mobile sports bets in the Pelican State.
This launch builds upon Caesars’ longstanding legacy in Louisiana, allowing Caesars Sportsbook to provide Louisiana sports fans and those who visit the state an elevated sports betting experience fit for royalty in the palm of their hands, as well as at its legendary Louisiana casino resorts.
In addition to Harrah’s New Orleans and Horseshoe Bossier City Hotel & Casino, Caesars Entertainment owns the Isle of Capri Lake Charles which is being renovated and will reopen this fall as the Horseshoe Lake Charles. Harrah’s New Orleans will eventually be rebranded as Caesars New Orleans. All three of these properties will eventually have state of the art sportsbook facilities:
Caesars’ commitment to Louisiana runs deep, having successfully operated some of the state’s most impactful casinos for nearly 30 years. Recently, the company committed to a $325 million transformation of its New Orleans property from Harrah’s to Caesars. The company is also in the midst of rebuilding its Lake Charles property on shore with an aim to reopen it as Horseshoe Lake Charles.
When the renovation is finished in the fall of 2022, Horseshoe Lake Charles will reopen with a Caesars Sportsbook location. Harrah’s New Orleans and Horseshoe Bossier City will also each open a brand-new state-of-the-art Caesars Sportsbook location in 2022, further bolstering Caesars’ standing as the state’s home team when it comes to gaming, entertainment, and now, sports betting.
Eric Hession, Co-President of Caesars Digital, spoke of the strong business at his company’s retail properties as he commented on the mobile launch:
“Launching our Caesars Sportsbook app on the first day mobile sports wagering goes live in Louisiana is a big moment for our legacy in the state. Louisiana sports fans have shown us their passion for sports betting every day since the opening of our Caesars Sportsbook locations at Harrah’s New Orleans and Horseshoe Bossier City. Our mobile app is ready to bring fans closer to the sports they love while offering the very best in rewards.”
Caesars has made plenty of partnership deals in Louisiana in advance of their sportsbook launch. They’re an official sports betting partner of the New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Pelicans and LSU Athletics, as well as the exclusive sports betting and odds provider for The Advocate and Times-Picayune, ESPN and CBS Sports. Assuming you don’t live in one of the nine backwards parishes that didn’t approve sports betting you can download Ceasars app in Louisiana and start betting immediately.
