- The Pass Casino–formerly the Eldorado–reopened after considerable renovation on April 1.
The Pass Casino recently opened on Water Street in Henderson, Nevada and on April 29 they’ll have a sportsbook. Not just any sportsbook–Circa Sports is opening their second satellite location at the property. The Nevada Gaming Commission gave their approval at their April 22 meeting which was expected given that everyone involved is already licensed by state regulators. The approval was deemed ‘conditional’ but that’s standard procedure with the ‘conditions’ being several regulatory hoops regarding internal controls and surveillance:
Circa Sports
The Pass Casino was formerly known as the Eldorado under the ownership of Boyd Gaming (NYSE: BYD). Last December, Boyd Gaming announced that they were selling the Eldorado on historic Water Street in Henderson, Nevada to DiSimone Gaming. DiSimone Gaming also owns the Railroad Pass Hotel, Casino and Travel Center which was purchased from MGM Resorts in 2015. DiSimone put over $7 million into renovations hoping to attract the locals clientele which has been very successful at the Railroad Pass. There are plans to add a hotel to the property within the next year or so.
Circa Sports has also had a busy few months that began in late 2020 with the opening of the eponymously named downtown casino also owned by Derek Stevens. In March, Circa Sports opened their first Nevada satellite location at the Tuscany Suites & Casino. Their plans to take over for William Hill at Tuscany were initially made public in September 2020. They also operate a mobile sports betting app in Colorado and plans are in the works to launch in Iowa later this year in partnership with the Wild Rose Casino & Resort in Jefferson, Iowa. There hasn’t been much in the way of specific details about Circa’s Iowa plans though the access agreement was up for approval at the April 15, 2021 meeting of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission:
There are three Wild Rose Casinos in Iowa. DraftKings handles their retail sports betting and also offers a mobile app in Iowa. In addition, they have a market access agreement with BetRivers for mobile sports betting.
