- Fubo Gaming has announced a long-term promotional partnership with the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers.
- Fubo Gaming is the sports betting and gaming subsidiary of streaming network fuboTV.
- Fubo Sportsbook is expected to launch by the end of 2022 with the specific states for launch ‘TBA’.
In January, fuboTV announced plans to launch their new sports betting platform–Fubo Sportsbook–by the end of 2022. They appear to be on target to hit that goal and in advance of the launch have been extremely active on the sponsorship and promotional front. Their biggest move to date has been a partnership deal with the NFL’s New York Jets that will see a branded betting lounge open in MetLife Stadium. They’ve also taken smaller steps to build brand awareness including the launch of a content studio for advertisers as well as opening an online store to sell Fubo branded t-shirts and other swag.
Earlier today, they announced their first promotional endeavor with an NBA franchise. Fubo Gaming–the subsidiary of fuboTV focused on sports betting and gaming–has signed a long term partnership deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers to promote the Fubo Gaming brand through a variety of channels. This will include plenty of in-arena branding and signage, social media promotion and sponsorship of the team’s free-to-play game called ‘Cavs Pick ‘Em’.
Here’s how the press release announcing the deal explained the new partnership:
The Cleveland Cavaliers and Fubo Gaming, a subsidiary of fuboTV Inc. (NYSE: FUBO) that is dedicated to delivering a unique, hyper-personalized sports entertainment and wagering experience, today announced a new long-term partnership. The agreement marks Fubo Gaming’s first sponsorship with an NBA franchise.
The partnership will promote the Fubo Gaming brand through an integrated marketing campaign highlighted by high-impact broadcast-visible signage, a presence on team television and radio game programming, as well as activation on Cavs digital and social channels and other marketing assets. Fubo Gaming will also be the presenting partner of Cavs Pick ‘Em, the free-to-play live predictive gaming platform that debuted last season in GameDay+, a second screen platform inside the Cavs App championed by Westfield.
Beginning with the upcoming 2021-22 season, the Fubo Gaming brand will be prominently featured inside the bowl of Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse with a powerful blend of in-venue signage that will be visible to all Cavs fans in attendance, as well as those watching games on television from home.
Shelly Cayette, Cleveland Cavaliers senior vice president, global partnerships, is looking forward to helping Fubo Gaming build their brand across the region:
“We couldn’t be more excited to align our Cavaliers brand with Fubo Gaming, a company that shares a mutual passion for innovation and as we like to say, who are ‘obsessed with finding a better way’ in such a new and rapidly-evolving sports gaming category. We are proud to team up with Fubo Gaming and help bolster their brand presence across the greater Cleveland region, all over Ohio, and with our fanbase for many years to come.”
Scott Butera, president of Fubo Gaming, is excited to be extending his company’s brand into the NBA:
“We’re thrilled to have our first NBA team partnership with the Cleveland Cavaliers, an innovative sports franchise known to have one of the most passionate fan bases in the league. This partnership is a natural extension of our overall goal to deliver sports fans dynamic and engaging experiences with the teams and sports they love.”
The press release reiterated plans for Fubo Sportsbook to launch by the end of 2022 though they said that the specific launch states were ‘TBA’. Previously, Fubo had announced licensing and market access agreements for Arizona and Iowa along with market access agreements for New Jersey and Indiana.
