Commanders Look to Clinch No. 6 Seed Against Dallas: Odds, Props, Picks

The Commanders have clinched a playoff spot but still have something to play for as a win would secure the No. 6 seed, meaning avoiding the Eagles in the opening round. The Cowboys wrap up a very disappointing season but could be in line to ruin their divisional rivals chances of a higher seed.

Winning in Washington

Washington is still buzzing after that thrilling 30-24 overtime home victory over Atlanta last week that clinched the final NFC wild-card spot, and handed the Rams the NFC West, while eliminating Seattle at the same time. QB Jayden Daniels was brilliant, rushing for 127 yards and throwing for three TDs including the game winner to Zach Ertz. While a higher seed would be better on paper, will Dan Quinn risk injuries to any of his star players against a team that has nothing to play for? Daniels will win the Offensive Rookie of the Year and is the most important piece to this team. He loves to run, but will he be given the green light to take punishment? That is something to keep an eye on. This is the first time Washington has won 11 games since 1991, the last time they won the Super Bowl.

Done in Dallas

The season will end in disappointment and with many questions for the offseason in Dallas. Will Mike McCarthy be back? What happens to Micah Parsons? The Cowboys shut down Pro Bowl receiver CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott has been out for several weeks. They got smoked 41-7 last week by Philadelphia so they would like some redemption in the finale. Cooper Rush struggled without Lamb and we could see Trey Lance in this game too. If the players think this is McCarthy’s last game as head coach, they could be motivated to send him off a winner.

Player Prop Best Bets

Rico Dowdle: OVER rushing yards

Not much has been going great for the Cowboys this season but the play of Rico Dowdle has been a pleasant surprise. He’s hit the 100-yards rushing mark in three of his last four games including racking up 104 yards against the Eagles. He faces a Commander run defense ranked 27th in the NFL and a unit that gave up 90 yards and two TDs to Bijan Robinson last week.

Micah Parsons: Anytime SACK

Micah Parsons is going for a bit of history on Sunday. He needs half-sack to become just the fifth player with at least 10 sacks in each of his first four seasons in the NFL. Jayden Daniels was sacked 5 times last week. If you’re wondering, the other four players are Reggie White, Claude Humphrey, Derrick Thomas and Dwight Freeney.

Jayden Daniels: UNDER Rushing Yards

While he’s coming off 127 yards last week, Jayden Daniels may not run as much as the Commanders don’t want to put him in danger of suffering an injury. And there is a chance they pull him in the second half if Dallas is up big. Watch for this prop number later in the week as it could be dropping by game time.
