Despite a bumbling effort by regulators, the mobile sports betting market is finally up and running in Maryland. We’ll be running through the recent launches as more operators begin to serve the state. No big surprise that Flutter Entertainent PLC owned FanDuel was one of the first to go live with their online/mobile offering. Maryland residents can download the FanDuel app for iOS or mobile, or bet online via their web platform.

Unfortunately, there’s no quote from a FanDuel representative in the press release. As a public service, I’ll provide a reasonable facsimile of what it would have likely said:

Not bad, if I do say so myself. When I was composing the quote I accidentally misspelled ‘Terrapin’ and my spellcheck corrected it to “terrine’. I was tempted to leave it like that.
FanDuel also has a retail sportsbook located at the Live! Casino & Hotel in Hanover, Maryland. Hanover is an unincorporated part of the Baltimore metro area located adjacent to BWI International Airport. The Maryland launch makes it 17 states for Fan Duel’s mobile and/or online sports betting platform joining Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming.
