The Major League Baseball (MLB) season is set to get underway in a matter of hours. This makes the timing of MLB related announcements pretty obvious, such as the one made today by the Sycuan Casino Resort in San Diego, California. Technically, the property is in El Cajon but all of their marketing revolves around San Diego to the point that their website refers to ‘San Diego’s First Casino’.
They’re also soliciting San Diego’s sports teams and athletes to help promote their brand. Today, they announced that they’ve inked a two year endorsement deal with San Diego Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove. Technically, this is a *re-signing* since Musgrove served as a brand ambassador in 2022–the property’s first deal with a MLB baseball player. Sycuan Casino Resort announced today that the organization has signed a two-year endorsement deal with San Diego Padres Pitcher Joe Musgrove. In 2022, Sycuan welcomed Musgrove as the organization’s first MLB ambassador.
As part of the agreement, Musgrove will make exclusive casino appearances, participate in community events and continue to be featured in marketing campaigns, promotions and social media content.
Pretty typical as these things go. Rob Cinelli, general manager at Sycuan Casino Resort, sent some love Musgrove’s way in the press release:

Musgrove is already a pro at press release quotes and expressed his excitement at the new deal with Sycuan:

Musgrove is currently sidelined with a fractured toe suffered in a weight room accident. As a result, he’ll begin the 2023 MLB season on the injured list. He’s been throwing in simulated games and other managed situations and is next expected to pitch in a minor-league game on Saturday.
