- Maverick Gaming will launch retail sportsbooks at their three Colorado properties.
- They’ll also introduce a Maverick Sports branded mobile sports betting app.
- IGT now provides sports betting services in 15 US states.
Three more retail sportsbooks are slated to open in Colorado as Maverick Gaming has announced an agreement with IGT. Maverick Gaming will offer retail sports betting at the Grand Z Casino and Johnny Z’s Casino in Central City and the Z Casino in Black Hawk. The sportsbook trifecta will bring the number of retail sportsbooks in Colorado to 15 following the recent launch of the Sasquatch Casino and Wild Card Saloon sportsbooks–also powered by IGT.
Maverick Gaming is based in Las Vegas and has quietly become a significant player in the regional casino market. They own the Wendover Nugget and Red Garter casinos right over the border with Utah in West Wendover, Nevada. About 90 minutes West of Wendover they own three properties in Elko, Nevada–the Gold Country Inn & Casino, the Red Lion Hotel & Casino and the High Desert Inn. They also own nineteen card rooms in Washington.
Maverick Gaming will also partner with IGT on a mobile app called ‘Play Maverick Sports’ along with self service PlaySports kiosks at the three properties. Play Maverick Sports will be the 17th mobile app licensed by the Colorado Division of Gaming.
The press release announcing the deal offered this quote from Justin Beltram, Maverick Gaming Chief Operating Officer:
“IGT’s comprehensive PlaySports technology will enable Play Maverick Sports to engage new players and enhance our portfolio with exceptional sports betting experiences at our casinos and throughout the state of Colorado. The turnkey nature of IGT’s PlaySports solution and its proven ability to deliver positive player experiences across channels were key drivers of our decision to choose IGT as our sports betting growth partner. Maverick Gaming cannot wait to extend the excitement of sports betting to our players and sports fans throughout Colorado.”
PlayDigital Senior Vice President Enrico Drago gave the IGT perspective on the deal with Maverick Gaming:
“By leveraging the IGT PlaySports turnkey solution, Maverick Gaming is positioned to benefit from the entire PlaySports value chain and operate a top-quality, cross-channel sports betting program. IGT will apply the experience and expertise that we have gained through our leading B2B sports betting operations in 15 U.S. states to help fuel the success of Maverick Gaming’s Colorado sports betting enterprise.”
IGT has a lot going on in Colorado. In May, they announced that IGT technologies would power retail sportsbooks at the Sasquatch Casino and Wild Card Saloon in Black Hawk. Both opened their retail sports betting operations in late September–if you’ve wondered about the entry for ‘SasquatchWildCardCO’ or ‘SasWC’ on the Don Best odds feed there you go. IGT is also powering the FanDuel mobile app in the Centennial State. Since IGT also recently added an in-house oddsmaking team it remains to be seen if there will be any variance from shop to shop. In the press release announcing the Las Vegas based trading team they indicated that they’d deal ‘localized lines’.
