NFC West Rivals Meeting on TNF as 49ers Visit Seahawks

With the Rams troubled by injuries and the Cardinals going through a rebuild, it appears the NFC West is a two-team race between the 49ers and the Seahawks. And on Thursday Night Football, the two teams renew their decade old rivalry in Seattle.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers blew a third quarter 23-10 lead and were stunned by the Cardinals last week. This was the second time already this season that’s happened as San Francisco blew a lead to the Rams a few weeks ago. While they have put up 23 or more points in four of the five games, the offense continues to struggle without Christian McCaffrey. The offense had just one touchdown against Arizona, and Brock Purdy threw two interceptions. The Niners will likely be without kicker Jake Moody who suffered an ankle injury and safety Talanoa Hufanga left the Cardinals game with a wrist injury. Despite his poor performance last week, Brock Purdy has been playing better than his stats, and should try to get his playmakers involved early to silence the crowd.

Seattle Seahawks

After looking unstoppable in the first three games, the Seattle defense has struggled in back-to-back losses. The Seahawks gave up 420 yards to the Giants, a team missing its top receiver and running back. Seattle was hit by the injury bug as linebackers Uchenna Nwosu and Derick Hall and cornerback Riq Woolen were hurt in that game. The Hawks were already missing defensive tactackle Byron Murphy II and outside linebacker Boye Mafe. The ground game was ineffective as Kenneth Walker had five carries for 19 yards and Zach Charbonnet two carries for 11. The offensive line has been a big question as Geno Smith was sacked 7 times by the Giants. And with Nick Bosa lurking for the Niners, Seattle better fix that issue or it will be a long night for the Seahawks offense.

Best Bet: Over 47.5

With all the defensive injuries on the Seahawks side, it could open things up for the 49ers to take advantage. As mentioned the Hawks run game was terrible and if San Francisco jumps out, Geno Smith will need to throw. Seattle is 4-1 this season on the over while the 49ers are 3-2.
