Seahawks, Lions Meet on Monday Night Football, Missing Key Players

Monday Night football features a double-header and the second game has the undefeated Seahawks headed to Detroit to face the Lions. While the Lions are favored by 4.5, Seattle has won the last six meetings, including the last three in high-scoring games.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Not many expected to find the Seahawks atop the NFC West after three weeks but at 3-0 that’s exactly where they sit. Zach Charbonnet has been a fabulous filling in for Kenneth Walker who is still questionable for Monday. Charbonnet had 91 yards on 18 carries and 2 touchdowns against the Dolphins. Seattle is 2nd best overall allowing just 249 yards of offense, and just 14 points per, fourth least in the league.

DETROIT LIONS

The Lions beat Arizona last week on the road to improve to 2-1 but have several injury concerns going into this game. The good news is they get an extra day to rest before Monday night. Detroit has played three one-score games and this one appears it could come down to the last possession. The Lions have been rock solid recently at Ford Field, 9-3 SU and 7-5 ATS and playing in prime-time could put the Lions back in the conversation as Super Bowl contenders.

PREDICTION: LIONS -3.5

The Seahawks defense has looked stout under coordinator Aden Durde but despite 11 sacks in three games, Seattle hasn’t played a decent offense yet. Miami and New England rank as the bottom two teams for points scored while Denver is ranked 23rd. Now they step up in class against a Lions team that has found success on the ground as David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs have helped Detroit average 163 yards a game, fifth best in the NFL. This appears to be a game where the Lions offense may be too much for Seattle to handle.

INJURIES

Seahawks have been missing edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu all season, but could return in Week 4. RB Kenneth Walker III has missed the last two, and is questionable this week. RT Stone Forsythe is the starter, but is more of a third stringer. Detroit has lost edge rusher Marcus Davenport for the season with an elbow injury while Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow has a partial torn pec and could be sidelined Monday. And tight end Sam LaPorta sprained his ankle against Arizona, and while he should play, he’ll likely not be 100%.
