- This is the 40th season for CBS’s reality show.
- The entire cast of Season 40 consists of returning players from previous seasons.
- ‘Survivor: Winners at War’ Episode 3 airs February 26 at 8:00 PM Eastern.
Another week of Survivor: Winners at War in the books and another elimination but not really has taken place. Danni Boatwright was eliminated after being voted out at tribal council but not really since she’s only been relegated to Extinction Island. Apparently, one of the contestants–Sandra Diaz-Twine–has a strategy to eliminate all of the women which will make her the de facto ‘queen’. As if we needed one more thing to make the current incarnation of Survivor any more insufferable–let’s get all of the other women eliminated making the show the proverbial ‘sausage fest’.
The other big storyline is the return of ‘Boston’ Rob Mariano. He’s made being a ‘heel’ on Survivor something of a cottage industry and by the end of this go-round he’ll have spent more days ‘on the island’ than any other contestant in the show’s history. To be fair, he is a pretty good heel–he’s reviled by the audience yet a solid player. At any rate, Survivor majordomo Jeff Probst loves him so you can expect to see him back:
“When people ask why do you have Rob back so many times? This is why. He’s compelling. He’s amazing to watch. The move to have everyone empty their bags was so smart on so many levels. Even levels that didn’t play out this time. And I do not think this will be the last time it happens. It’s a very powerful move that could be used in many ways. Nor is it the last really cool move we’ll see this season. We have a ton of extremely compelling players and this game is just getting started.”
